Wellies!

LA has been getting an insane amount of rain. In the five years that I have lived here I have gone a year or longer without seeing any rain. So naturally, I am a huge fan of these days of rain that we have been getting. Everything is so lush, green and clean. That's one of the things that they don't tell you about LA. It's really dusty and dirty. If I spend a day out in Silverlake I feel dirty and dusty when I leave. So I bought these Wellie's a couple of years ago from Target and I finally get to break them out and use them quite a lot in these days full of spring showers!

I love the rain!

P.S. In case you're wondering what's with the new blog look - Its a reminder. I want to change my blog and so I changed it to a blog front that I really don't like in hopes of motivating me to change it!!

Its been rainy and cold

here in LA. I personally love it but a lot of people hate it. I personally enjoy wearing a sweater and a scarf in July while living in Southern California. I've been meaning to blog the past couple of mornings but I came down with a cold over the weekend so I've been sleeping in later and resting up. So I apologize for being a short little blog today but I'm going to leave you with a cute image of coffee and fun fingernails.

Happy Belated Easter!

We had a wonderful busy weekend! Family is in town and so with both of us working during the week we did some entertaining this weekend. I had about 6 people over for Easter and did the majority of the cooking, which I love doing. Its so much fun! I think I'm going to start a new tradition and make this cake every Easter. We had it last Easter and its super simple to make but tastes amazing.

Pear Cardamom Cake from "The Wednesday Chef Blog". If you click on the title it has the link to her blog with the recipe. Something I did notice is that her topping was much more crunchy and carmelized then mine. Mine was more soaked into the cake this time..Hmm..I wonder what I did differently?

Jack also made a homemade focaccia bread that was to die for. He used the Martha Stewart Recipe

Focaccia Bread and then we added really thinly sliced tomatoes, fresh rosemary, oregano, salt, freshly ground pepper, freshly grated reggianno and thinly sliced olives. We also let it sit overnight in the fridge for a slow rise which tends to give breads more character than if you just leave it out for a few hours and cook it. I highly recommend doing this to breads if you have the time and patience! Here was our results. It was amazing!

I hope you had a lovely weekend! I'm off to work in this rainy weather ( which I am so excited/happy for!)

Rain, Rain, Come again...

Its supposed to have rained in LA yesterday and today. I'm really wishing for it but it hasn't shown up yet! Le Sigh. I really love the rain and I know with the warmer weather it means I won't see it again for the next 6-8 months. boo! I really need to move to a rainier place.

Cupcakes and Cashmere has some wonderful rainy day options up! How cute is that jacket?

Now it works...

So the picture I was trying to upload yesterday is now able to be uploaded!

This is a pic from the backdoor of my house looking towards the garage. I love the rain and miss it so much. I love how green and fresh everything looks after a rainfall. I love the smell of the rain, dewey, fresh, and grassy smell. Rain feels like a fresh start here in LA where the days all seem to run into each other and start to blend.

Did Saint Nick visit you?

He came to our house and brought us both lots of goodies! Incase you don't know what Saint Nick's day is or as the Netherlands call it Sinterklauss. Click here.

For me he brought some pretty red flowers, a half bottle of La Crema Pinot Noir, some nuts, a big piece of chocolaty caramel. For Jack, he brought Tim Tams, a Barnes and Noble gift card and some vanilla flavored almonds.

Its raining cats and dogs in LA today. I absolutely love it! I'm trying to upload a picture on blogger but its keeping on giving me an error. WTF. Sigh.
