Impromptu trip to San Francisco

So I have not gone to alcatrez, rode on a cable car, or walked across the Golden Gate Bridge but what I have done is drank my way through some great restaurants in San Francisco. Two of my besties live up there and one lives in the city and makes it her job to try every cool place so that when I come to visit I have somewhere absolutely fun to go!

So Friday night we started at the Tipsy Pig for some drinks and food. They have this amazing drink called Strawberry fields and its crushed strawberries, vodka, simple syrup and other good things and these things are amazing. Its got a really cool pub feel going on and really great food!

We sat in the far right corner by the wall and a really awesome touch that they do is when they bring you the receipt it is in an old book. Love it. After that we met up with some friends and went to some pubs.

On Saturday we headed down for bloody mary's, mimosa, deviled eggs, and biscuits at the Elite Cafe. Where we made great friends with the tender of the bar and he hooked us up with drinks and even made some of his own personal cocktail creations for us. Let me say I am a huge fan of his espresso martinis. narm.

Also, girls if you're going out for breakfast sit at the bar and make friends with the 'tender! You will have a way better experience...Just sayin.

Fast forward to my last day up there and we decide to do a walking tour of SFO. First we, got coffees and wandered around Fillmore St. which is filled with really cool shops and restaurants. We decided to do lunch at Dosa, which is a South Indian restaurant. We had such good food and we both had elderberry mimosas. Yum.

Then we headed down to Japantown and walked through the little mall to walk off our lunch. When were done there we headed down to the Clift Hotel, which is an awesome Phillipe Starke designed boutique Hotel. How awesome is this giant chair in the lounge? Plus, I love all the mismatched chairs in the lounge.

We hung out for a bit in the lounge waiting for their bar to open which is called the Redwood Room and rumor is the entire wood covered bar was made from one giant redwood tree back in the '20's. How effing cool is that?

We had a cocktail here and decided to do some more wandering to other bars . We tried to go to Bourbon and Branch. A really awesome speak easy bar/lounge but when we got there no one was answering their doorbell ( which btw you have to give a password at). So we ended up wandering to an Irish pub and grabbing a pint .

At this point we were a bit hungry so we headed down to Betelnut which is an amazing asian fusion restaurant. The Best part is the wait staff wheres these really awesome little costumes. Loved it in there and the food was to die for!

After this we headed back to the house and fell asleep. I had a long day of driving ahead of me on Monday and we were both tired from our debauchery all weekend long. Maybe one of my most favorite parts of the trip was on Monday morning we walked a block down to her local coffee shop and the city was so sleepy and beautifully quiet. For being right in the middle of the city you would have never guessed how serene it could be. I love SFO.

If you're going to San Francisco...

I'm just finishing my breakfast and about to start putting everything into my suitcase to prepare for my 4 oclock flight to San Francisco. I'm going up there to celebrate my best friends 30th birthday and party it up with other friends who live up there. I am super excited for this fun filled birthday!

If you've never been to San Francisco I highly recommend going especially if you know someone who lives there. The first time I went it was on more of a tourist type of visit and I didn't really care for Downtown San Fran but I loved the wine country and thought it was gorgeous! Now this will be my 3rd time up there as a non tourist and I love it! There are so many unique neighborhoods and things to do! I'm a little bummed that the weather isn't going to be a bit more chillier ( its going to be almost 80's). I'm not going to lie and I love the cold crisp fall weather and I even bought the cutest sweater from Anthropologie in hopes that I'd be wearing it in SFO. I guess it will have to wait until I go to Wisconsin! I think it will be perfect to wear when its like 60's and then to layer with a longsleeve shirt for when its 30-40 degrees! Pair it with some cute jeans, boots and a gorgeous long necklace and we have a smoking outfit.

I love how anthropologie is so detailed orientated. Even the back has some interesting patterning.

So, I am looking forward to going to lots of good restaurants and bars and just normal shenanigans that happen when we get together to play!

So on that note my lovies I leave you with a picture from my first trip to San Francisco.

Cheers-

Craft Project!!!

I bought a sewing machine last night as a splurge/want for a long time! I was at Joann's and really wanted to make my niece a cute little bag for trick or treating and jack had a good idea to make it out of the fuzzy/hairy fabric and from there i found all the components. So enjoy the pics below! It's so precious. Almost makes me wish that I was little again!

This is the interior of the bag (Jack helped do a bunch of the sewing/construction of the project!)

Bag with the eyes! I love how much they really look like cat eyes! Meow...

Voila! Finished cat bag! Its kinda cheesey/martha stewartish but come'on a little 2 year old walking around with this will be adorable! I also love the blank expression of the cat!

Cheers and happy Sunday!

Sunday Mornings

So, I know I don't blog for 10 years and all of the sudden i write 2 in one day. What are things coming to?
After my og post, we made some breakfast and we had elephant eyes, eggs in the basket, whatever the f- you want to call it. It was delish. Of course, I had my coffee and kombucha fix and some farmers market cantaloupe. YUM.

After breakfast, we headed out to the farmers market and picked up our weekly produce. I'm not sure if its cheaper then shopping at a big chain grocery store but as far as shopping at whole foods/wild oats. Its wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy cheaper. So we spent $47 and the bulk of the money went to flowers $12 and berries (3 boxes) $11 and then the other $24 went to other veggies and fruits

So here is the famers market booty! IN my uber cute riesenthal shopping bag.

So, if you want an idea of how much it bought us

1 peach
1 nectarine
2 lemons
2 pluots
1 yellow raspberrie box
1 red reaspberry box
1 blueberry box
1 bunch of grapes (about 1 pound)
1 bunch of radishes
1 bunch of leek
1 bunch of basil (yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm)
1 green onion bunch
3 corn on the cobs
1 head of lettuce
1 bunch of dill
1 bok choy
2 avocados
1 head of broccoli
1 bunch of spinach

4 flower bouquets

And, took a cute picture of the puppers. They were waiting to get a little bit of our left over elephant eyes.

New Purchases

This is my new bread box for my kitchen! I found it on ebay and I am absolutely in love with it. I might try and refinish it and get a new sticker to put on it. Their are a couple of nicks and scrapes but overall I love it and maybe I'll pick my new colors for the kitchen off of this box! Now before you think..ew um gross you're going to put you're bread in it. I plan on keeping wrapped bread in it and of course I'll give it a through Lysol spray inside, but I think it's going to look darling on my little counter!Next, eBay item up is two anthropologie kitsch 'n' glam aprons! They are aprons designed to fit like a retro dress, but obviously made out of good kitcheny material! I love these fun aprons. Normally they are $38.99 on anthropologie.com, but i was able to snag two aprons for $48.00 with shipping on eBay! and they are nwt( i really hope that means new with tag)

So hopefully, these will be what i ordered and I can go to town in my kitchen with all my new aprons!

Last night, I was going to attempt to make Thai Curry, but after going to the dog park I decided that I would much rather go to El Torito. So off we went and split a pitcher of blackberry margaritas. I asked how many the pitcher held and he said, oh about 4...Well i think he meant about 4 each. So a very buzzed Raechel drove home. It was quite silly, I live um...3 blocks for El torito, but I just hopped in the car without even thinking about it.

OH welll.

What else is new in Raechel land. I have gotten back to ballet. I know go on Wednesday right around lunch. I really love it. I do have a new teacher and she is good, but she isn't quite like my old teacher. Alicia ( the new teacher) is a prego, so its harder for her to teach and she can't show us jumps or anything, which sucks a little but she's really nice and I feel like I am getting a good ballet education from her. Jack built me a bar this weekend so I can practice when I am at home. I really want to learn how to be en pointe. That is a goal. If I had stuck with ballet when I was 5 I would be en pointe now, but alas, I was a foolish girl and wanted to play basketball (!?!?!??!??!?) (ok, don't judge. everyone else in my class was!) Maybe next time I am home I will put up pictures of me in my basketball regalia..It is quite amusing. Just as an FYI. Mother's should not be allowed to dress their children. I had to wear black socks with black tennis shoes because that was the color on out jerseys..oy vay..

This is going to be a super long post, but I feel that it is very worth you're reading because of all of the amazing things that have been going on.......or I just really wanted to share about my latest and greatest eBay purchases!

ok, well my bit of wisdom is "grease after the peace " ( i guess its a surfing mantra)

kisses
